There are few styles as appropriate for Southern California as Spanish and Modern architecture. Though noted for our modern homes, our signature style is “Spanish Revival”. Actually it’s a revival of Spanish Revival. Most of the examples of this style were built from 1915 to the early 1930’s in California and the style was called “Spanish Revival” then because it was a modern interpretation of the building style commonly used when Spain colonized South America, Mexico then later the land that became California via the mission system.

The style is particularly well suited to Southern California because the climate is very similar to that of Spain. Generally dry with mild winters and hot summers. Spanish building materials hold up well to this kind of climate. The style also reflects a strong connection between indoor and outdoor space. Low pitch clay tile roofs, plaster walls, courtyards and shaded patios all feel right at home in California
